From
the desk of Rabbi Perry Tirschwell
What an exciting week at YHS! After a much-needed break at
the end of the trimester, our students came back to a
festively-festooned hallway and thoroughly enjoyed a plethora of
special programs. It was definitely YHS' best Chanukah yet!
Thank you to the parents and faculty who were able to attend
our daughter Yocheved's Bat Mitzvah Thursday night. Your
children have graced our home and have been our children's role
models. My wife and I are most grateful to you for sharing your
children with ours.
Shabbat Shalom and Chag Urim Sameach.

Our Fantastic Chanukah Chagiga included a sub
sandwich dinner, dancing to the music of our student band
Torahck, candle making, maariv and candlelighting. Faculty and
students alike had a great time.
Special Davenings and Breakfasts- Our
song-filled Hallel prayers each day were led by Boca Raton
Kollel member Rabbi Moshe Schochet, Rabbi Josh Spodek, Shimmie
Kaminetsky and Isralight's Rabbi Bini Friedman. Krispy Kreme
donuts (the West Palm Beach store is now officially under the
ORB) on Thursday and French Toast on Friday were enjoyed by
all.
Our 2nd Annual Charity Slave Auction was a great
deal of fun and a major fundraising success. Each teacher
contributed coveted prizes including shabbat meals at their
homes, home-baked chcolate chip cookies (each day for a week)
and principal for a day. The students watched a moving video
last week about the critical work that Magen David Adom (the
recipient of the funds raised) is doing during the current
crisis in Israel. Kudos to Mrs. Leba Schneider and the Tzedaka
Committee for all their hard work.
Over 80% of the boys in the school attended the Erev
Thanksgiving Sports and Bbque Program which included an
hour and a half long football game and a two-hour long
baseball game with Rabbi Sugerman. Ya'ashar Koach to Rabbi
Spodek and the student council for creating an "awesome"
afternoon of good, clean fun.
Members of the Chesed Committee traveled to
Hollywood to share their Chanukah with young inpatients at the
Joe DiMagio Children's Hospital on Thursday.
The Spanish & Art classes took a creative
combined trip to the Jewish Museum of Florida's exhibit "EL
VIAJE: The Journey: Jewish Latin American Artists & Poets
and a Florida Connection" in Miami. To complete the cultural
experience, they had lunch at the Mexico Bravo Kosher Mexican
restaurant in North Miami Beach. Thank you to Mrs. Carole
Sacket for putting together this enjoyable and educational
day.
Students Share Their Israel Experiences-Rabbi Broide
and students who accompanied him last week on the Boca Raton
Synagogue's Teen Mission to Israel spoke to the entire student
body this week during davening.
Our seniors who particpate in Torah Leadership
Seminar taught classes this week to middle school students
at Hebrew Academy in Margate.
Mazel tov to Mindy Fuchs on the feature article
which appeared in the Boca Raton News last week about her work
with animals and her desire to become a veternarian.
